Tuesday Prayer and Study Group

We are a friendly and lively group of eighteen with an average attendance of meet each Tuesday afternoon from 2.00 p.m.to 3.30 p.m. in the parlour. Occasionally others join us.

The purpose of the group is to meet in fellowship, to study God's word and to pray to enable us to grow in our faith. A number within the group now volunteer to lead the discussion part of the meeting each week.

Each year at Advent and Lent we study material produced specifically to cover these events. We also visit St. Mary's Anglican Convent in Holy Week to be accompanied round the Stations of the Cross in reflection, song and prayer. It has been our custom for a number of years now to end for the Summer break with a day of study, reflection, prayer and quiet at St. Mary's Convent.

Our studies vary but to give you an idea of what we do, in the past we have studied specific books of the Bible, topics like Who is the Christ?, one of John Wesley's Sermons, The Addresses of the President and Vice President to Conference, Bible Month, Sunday Sermons and now we are on the fourth of the ten Holy Habits, spending two months of each of the Habits. Our Minister Rev. Keith Underhill visits us once each quarter to talk on a subject agreed.

Each year we have decorated a Christmas Tree for the Church Christmas Festival. The group on occasions has helped out on Local Arrangement Sundays.

The first Tuesday of each month also includes the Monthly prayer meeting.

Each meeting begins with prayer updates and we discuss situations and people to be included in our prayer time at the end of the meeting. We open with prayer and get down to our topic for the week and end with a time of prayer.

Currently the group is organised by Eileen Rennie who attends to all administration.
