The king of kings, the son of God
Was judged like mortal man
Betrayed by one who followed him
A brother in God's plan
Humiliated, beaten, abandoned by his friends
Hung upon the cross as into darkness he descends
"Father forgive" he prays
"They know not what they do"
As he hangs dying there,
For me and for you.
He came to us in innocence
To save the human race
Rejected by the men of God
For fear he might disgrace
The way that they were living, the leaders they'd become
All in the name of Yahweh, Jehovah, Mighty One.
Now there were those who followed him
Who flocked to hear his word,
And in each heart that truly sought
The flame of faith was stirred
Through miracle and story, through every word and deed
He showed them a father who would fill their every need
We too were called to follow him
Take up our cross and go
And where it is the master leads
We never truly know
And yes, sometimes we've faltered and wandered from the way
Yet we've been forgiven, Jesus took our sins away

Our thanks to all those involved in our Harvest service on Sunday. This year was slightly different as we made a collection of tinned and dried goods for the local Wantage and Grove food bank.
