Running for Helen and Douglas House

Heather Wells (one of our church members) is celebrating a significant birthday by by running a marathon in each of the four nations of the UK, to raise money for Helen & Douglas House. She is running with her friend Becky. They decided to take on this challenge to raise money for Helen & Douglas House because Becky's baby Nathan was stillborn. He would have been 15 in July this year. Helen and Douglas House were such a support to Becky and her family at the time and both Heather and Becky have friends who have been supported by the children's hospice. Helen & Douglas House is the world's first children's hospice (based in Oxford) and they have been caring for local terminally ill children and their families for forty years.

Heather and Becky have already run in Northumbria and the Giant's Causeway. They plan to run in the Outer Hebrides in June and then in Wales in the Autumn. Their first run was in Northumbria and was challenging with 26 to 30 mph winds from the North! and two short hailstorms. The Giant's Causeway was a complete contrast with the sun shining all day.
